Excellent question. We don't have pricing on our site, because services are difficult to quantify and place into neat little packages. Each business is very unique, and we take time to get to know you, and your needs, before creating an estimate. If pricing is something you are concerned about, feel free to reach out to us with your budget, and we'll let you know what's possible with it. If you're a non-profit, we'll work extra hard to shave our margins for you.
We'll always do our best to work with your timeframe, but in general, creative work takes time. Sure, we can bang out a poster in a few hours, but we can almost guarantee it won't be as good as one that we've sat with for a week or more. Creative projects take time to digest. Designers need to be able to take time away, and re-visit projects for fresh perspectives and new ideas. Giving them that time will benefit your business, and make your impact all the more mighty! The best way to get an idea of cost and lead time is to chat with us. We're pretty friendly.
That's not really a question, but we feel you. It's hard to hand someone your hard-earned cash each month, and just trust that they're working for you. Our SEO packages all come with regular reporting from a trusted industry provider Moz.com so you'll never have to wonder whether it's working. Contact us to chat about what we can do for you, and to see a sample report.
We're not here to tell you what you should and shouldn't do. What we will say is that when we do branding, we do more than just muck about in Photoshop. We take the time to get to know you, your brand, your values and your style. We research your compeition, and we think about every aspect of your brand, from your fonts, to your colors, to your presence in all aspects of the print and digital world. What you get is the logo of your dreams, and a handy little style guide, which you can key off of whenever you need to design assets in the future. This ensures you brand remains consistent for years to come.
One thing that's unavoidable is our base location in the USA. We support US jobs, and always will. Some companies can offer lower rates by outsourcing work to countries with lower wages, and that's great for them. It's just not how we roll.
So glad you asked! Apart from the fact that it allows us to create some super adorable mascots, our name defines the essence of good marketing: Tiny changes making mighty impact.
We promise it's not just to sound cool. We call ourselves boutique because we work with a small number of clients, take the time to really get to know them and their needs, and often work with them on an on-going basis. Relationships are really important to us. If we don't have a good relationship with you, we can't know your voice and help you amplify it in the most effective way. We don't have a large office with folks punching in 9-5, just trying to make it to the weekend. We only work with passionate, creative individuals who look actually forward to Mondays (Sounds crazy, but it's possible!) .
Sorry bud, agency-client unions are not currently recognized in the USA. However, we do offer some damn fine retainer contracts.
We build on a variety of platforms. Our go-to's are Squarespace (this site!) and Shopify . For more custom-sites, we build on Craft CMS . We build on Wordpress too, although we don't always recommend it, as it needs to be maintained & updated constantly, which can be a bear for a busy business! We've also been known to build on Drupal .
CMS stands for Content Management System. It's a quick way of saying there's a simple, easy way to update the content on your site without having to be a coder. If you've ever used Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify etc. to add or edit content to a site, you're using a CMS. All our sites ship with a CMS (and training!) as standard, unless you specifically request not to have one.
HTML and CSS are two different code languages that make up a website. Think of HTML as the building blocks of a house, and CSS as the plaster, paint, and furnishings. We always use the most stable versions of HTML and CSS to make sure your site has a solid foundation. HTML and CSS are not the only coding languages, and your site will likely also contain many more, but they are common to all sites.
Yes! All our sites are SEO optimized. That means we think carefully about the content we write with you, making sure your industry keywords are used. We structure your content in a search engine friendly way, make sure all your images include alt tags, include a meta-title and description for each page, so Google knows what to display, use special markup (schema.org) to highight important information, submit sitemaps, set up your analytics and more. Most importantly, during hand-off we teach yout what all of it means, and how to monitor and update it.
When we build an SEO optimized site we do all of the above, and then we hand you the reins. The research we do is limited to common industry keywords, and a quick peek at the compeition. Our SEO pacakages are much more involved.
Our research packages involve weeks of close research, and tens of spreadsheets as we take a magnifying glass to the competition, and delve deep into the search frequency, clickthough rates, and difficulty level of each keyword. We also do an audit of your entire web presence, site, seatch, and social. Through this research, we find gaps and areas in which you can excel, and prepare a report with recommended steps to take so you can start to dominate those areas.
Our ongoing support packages build off those recommendations, and we take steps each week to improve your search visibility. This could mean re-structuring your pages, re-writing your meta-information, highlighting important data to Google, writing blog posts, fixing broken links etc. With our ongoing packages, you receive a weekly report showing your search placement, and explaining your progress.
Site architecture is the basic structure of how information is presented on your site. It covers you pages and your navigation, and the structure of the pages themselves, i.e. making sure the most important information is in the heading, and working down from there.
Yes! In this day and age, never let anybody build you a site that is not mobile optimised. That would be like paying them to build you a bike with no wheels.
The simple answer is time. When someone builds and sells a template, they're spreading compensation for their time our over hundreds or even thousands of people. Custom sites are built just for you, which means you bear the brunt of the cost. The upshot is the site is 100% customised for you and your needs. You don't need to hack the code, or buy additional plugins and integratons to get the features you need - it's all been planned and thought out by our design/development team.
We do! Just give us a call, or drop us a line and we'll set up a time to chat about your needs. Once we've spoken, we'll noodle for a little while, and get back to you with a detailed estimate. You can accept or reject some, or all of the estimate. No hard feelings. It's smart to shop around.
We run our business on a remote model, so there is no physical office. Our team and our clients are scattered all across the country, from coast to coast. If we live in the same neighborhood we would love to meet you, but it's not neccessary. Many of our partners and clients commnicate with us through phone, email, online chat, video conferencing and screensharing. We have tools that make all of this really easy for you.
First, we do a li'l happy dance, becuase we're so happy to have you. Next, we'll send through a basic contract, that lays out in plain terms what we're giving you, and what our expectations and limitations are. Once you've had a read through, and accepted the contract, we'll invoice you for a downpayment and the work will proceed.
The downpayment is there to establish trust. 99% of people are awesome, wonderful souls but there are a few bad apples out there. The downpayment shows us that you're as serious about us as we are about you.
All our web services come with a tutorial to make sure you know how to use your new site, and a two-week support period. After that, you can choose to enter into a support retainer with us, or just reach out and contact us if there's a problem/question, and we'll bill you hourly for support. We build our sites on the most stable platforms out there, so your support needs will be limited.
